All About About CE Credits

As you probably know, the deadline to complete your real estate Continuing Education (or CE) credits is coming up. The due date is April 30, 2023, which is just about two months away! Even though there is still plenty of time to complete your CE requirements, be sure to do it sooner than later. There is nothing worse than scrambling at the last minute to complete all 12 credits! To help you get started, here is a breakdown with everything you need to know.

The Fine Print

Every other year all realtors are required to renew their Real Estate License. In order to do so, you need to complete 12 Continuing Education (CE) credits. The current term (2021-2023) requires all licensees to complete their CE courses by April 30, 2023. Failure to complete the credits by the deadline will result in a mandatory $200 late fee.

The Requirements

Out of the required 12 CE credits, six of the credits must be in the "Core Topics". This includes subjects like Agency, Legal Issues, New Jersey Statutes and Regulations, etc. Within the "Core Topics", two credits must be on Ethics, and one credit must be in Fair Housing & NJ Law Against Discrimination.

The six remaining credits may be in any of the elective topics. Some of the elective subjects include Commercial Real Estate, Seasonal Rentals, Financing, etc. This can be a great opportunity to learn about a new niche in real estate.

Check Your Status

In order to check your CE status, log on to the PSI Continuing Education Portal. To log in, you will need your real estate license number. If you do not have your license number handy, use this link to look up your reference number. Once you are logged in, you can review your CE progress.

Sign Up for Courses

Always be sure to check with your broker for approved CE courses. Oftentimes your local real estate board will host educational events that count for CE credits. You can also sign up for virtual classes online. We typically recommend the CE Shop!

However you decide to get it done, just be sure you stay on top of the deadline! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our team.
